Paterson Photography Changes

People have been asking why the changes here at Paterson Photography? Well it is simple, I am trying to stay organized and that is a HUGE project in itself. Over the past years several of my businesses and hobbies have merged into one HUGE mess.

People that are looking for my nature prints find my woodworking or my teaching information but cannot find my nature prints. People that want to follow the happenings with my van find my nature prints, etc, etc.

So I have been slowly separating things to make it easier for me and for my friends and clients. Well to be blunt it is like separating an omelette, it has not been easy. I am glad that I am doing it but it will take a lot of work to clean things up.

So be patient and someday I may have things all organized. You may see posts overlapping for a while but slowly things will split completely, or at least that is how I plan it 🙂

So some of my sites if you are interested are below…

Red Rock Coulee

Red Rock Coulee – Great in all seasons!

Red Rock Coulee

Red Rock Coulee

If you are looking for an amazing road trip may I suggest Red Rock Coulee.  I have driven past on highway 3 a number of times and always wondered what was there, now I know. It is well worth the drive for a day or even if you want to stay in the area for a couple days.

Will be heading back that way soon for some more pictures and exploring!  Funny thing is that all the rock pictures that I took and I like the flower ones the best!

This place is amazing, a little out of the way and NO services. There is one broken picnic table and that is all the extras that are there. But it is well worth the drive. I do suggest that you go WELL prepared. When it is hot out this place is even hotter. If it is dry this place is drier. When it is cool this place is COLD!! There is no shelter to get out of the weather unless you hide behind a rock and they are not that big!

Full moon on the rise

Headed out to shoot the (almost) full moon rising tonight. I thought that the cloud in the distance was too thick to get the moon coming out of the horizon. I was surprised to see the moon right on time. For shots like this a really cold night generally gives less distortion. But I can … Read more

Saskatchewan Sand Hills 2

Part 2 –  If you want to visit part 1 click here.

Small World – even in Saskatchewan

While I was sitting in the van having some supper a crazy couple pealed into the parking lot in their passenger van 🙂 . The driver got out and was seeing if he needed bug spray before heading out to shoot. As he turned towards me we both said “Mike” at the same time. It was a couple that I knew from Lethbridge that had moved to Calgary a number of years ago and they were stopping there for the night to shoot. When you consider the size of Canada running into someone in a remote part of Saskatchewan is weird!   I have to say that the sand hills do seem to be a popular place considering how remote it is!!

Saskatchewan Sand Hills 1

The largest sand hill close to the parking lot

Another Bucket list Item

For a number of years I have wanted to go to the Saskatchewan Sand Hills. These are not the ones up north that you need to fly into but they are the ones in southern Saskatchewan. I had read up on them, researched how to get there and was ready to go a couple years ago. My problem was that I wanted to stay there overnight and having a RV was a sure way to attack attention, or so I thought, as there is no camping in the area.  So now that I have the van set-up and with our former neighbors living out that way, off it was last week. The drive was a little mixed up as I went from Lethbridge to Medicine Hat, then to Eston then back down to the sand hills. My trip was a little longer than it should have been but it did allow me to see some friends and to cross on the ferry – three times!

Writing on Stone

Writing on Stone in the spring!

I LOVE Writing on Stone for so many reasons.  I have a hard time saying that in the heat of the summer as it is so hot but this time of year it is GREAT!!!

Last weekend I found myself on the way to Writing on Stone with clear skies and almost a full moon.  The large moon was not the best for night shots but would be great for seeing at night as I walked around the park after dark.  The sunset was okay, it would have been nice for a couple clouds but again it was warm, no snow and great just to be outside after such a long winter!
